The Bacolod Alliance Church History
Bacolod Alliance Church
History and Ministry Profile
The year was 1978. Rev. Ron and Beth Mangin, a missionary couple of the Christian And Missionary Alliance USA arrived in Bacolod City. They planted the seed that God caused to grow to become Bacolod Alliance church. Ron and Beth reached out to people through friendship and Bible studies until a core group of believers composed of several families was formally organized as Bacolod Alliance Church. They gathered for worship at Casa Noble Restaurant.
In 1982, the Mangins were to go on furlough. So Rev. and Mrs Generoso Invidiado was invited to continue that work that has been started. An apartment was rented in corner Rosario and Adelfa streets. The ground floor served as the worship area and the second floor became the parsonage. In two years time, the place could no longer accommodate the growing number of worshipers. The need for a bigger worship area was seen. The people asked God for “a place within the downtown area, but far away from the traffic.” Some believers were skeptical about the request. How could a place within the downtown area be far away from traffic? Impossible! But God cannot be limitedby impossibilities. A 1600 sq. meter house at 86-D San Juan street has become available for sale. When the church leaders checked it out, they found out that it was in the heart of the city but far away from traffic. A specific answer to a specific request.
Finances was a primary problem. The lot cost Seven hundred thousand pesos (P700,000), but the church had only P30,000.00 pesos in it’s coffers. Another miracle was needed. Again the people prayed. And again the Lord provided miraculously. The house and lot was paid in full in a years time.
In 1984, the church opened a school ministry using the ACE curriculum. And a number of families have been brought to the Lord. Here children are given the opportunity to grow not only academically but holistically. The sixty character traits that Jesus have exemplified in the gospels are daily taught and discussed in groups and in their lessons. In 1997, a preschool ministry was opened. Again God used the ministry to bring families to the Lord.
As the church grew, so did the ministries expaned.
The desire to reach others from within the city and from neighboring cities became a passion. BAC supported church planting projects in Sum-ag, Silay City, Banago, Victorias City, and Talisay City. Resulting in the birth of daughter churches in Banago, Sum-ag and Silay. Today, both Sum-ag and Silay alliance Church have reach out and planted daughter churches as well.
Programs like, Evangelism Explosion and home Unit bible Studies were conducted for members to equip them for sharing the gospel and reaching out to their friends and loved ones. We has opened bible studies in different business establishments around the city. The Bible studies conducted were being done members and officers of the Church themselves.
Caring Circles (Cell Groups) were established in key places around the city. As relationships grew closer the cell has become an avenue to invite friends to share the gospel. The cell groups have become a support group of encouragement in times of hardship, trials, sickness, mourning, and on the other hand celebration in times of success and promotions, birthdays, and other joyous occasions.
The fellowship of our auxiliaries, the Alliance Men Philippines, Alliance women Philippines and the Alliance youth Philippines has grown beyond the activities of meetings and fellowship but has branched out to sponsorship in evangelistic and mission emphasis activities.
Our Worship services have grown to two services and the evening vesper service is right now being prayed for. The worship team has grown to a complete band with back-up singers. Our worship style of have evolve from traditional to our own distinct style. We are praying for a more seeker sensitive worship service.
Christian education have taken the ministry of “Maturity.” All Sunday school classes and lessons, caring circle materials, Bible study guides, Evangelistic materials, Auxiliary lessons and ministry life cycle are develop according to the vision that God has revealed to the Pastor and Church leaders.
Leadership training are done through stages of growth in maturity of the member’s life. The life development process of turning the crowd to members and members to committed ministers is the structure that holds all activities and program in one direction – vision and action.
Missions focus has been one of our main ministries. Through the years we have faithfully supported missionary families of CAMACOP assigned in different countries in Asia. Yearly, our pledges for missions have reached the 80- 90 thousand peso mark. Through the years we have different programs and activities to mobilize our members not only to give and pray but also to go. Our caring Circles have adopted specific Missionary families and faithfully prayed and supported them both spiritually and financially.
The Music and drama ministry has also developed through the years. It has involved almost everyone in one time or another. We begun with special numbers like solo or duet or quartet and has branch out to full voiced choir with choir robes and choreography. We have sang in the church, Paglaum stadium, convention plaza and a lot more. Joseph the dreamer got everyone involved as it was presented in the little cinema in Goldenfields recreation center. The “God for Us” Cantata an ensemble of dances and drama and a 40 voice choir performed for God’s glory – and God touch the hearts of 25 people who came forward to accept Jesus as savior and Lord.
The children’s ministry has become our medium of training and teaching our kids in spiritual introduction and awakening. During the OJT for Kid’s EE 17 kid’s ages between 7- 12, went out and shared the gospel to the street children and 36 kids accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior plus 2 adults. We have extension classes every Sunday afternoon at hanumanan and Magsungay and simultaneously held our VBS, 115 kids graduated including those from neighborhood.
